Week 15B

Final Critique

Some of the feedback that I received from my classmates and professor were really helpful and will look forward to making those changes to make it better. Overall I think this webpage was a success for me and everything that I wanted to do with my sketches turned out the way I envisioned.
  • Drop shadow behind text that is on top of images
  • Only have the prompt of the form listed once (for example only have one first name in the form)
  • Try to incorporate a rollover state for the individual social media buttons and have them as individual links instead of one photo
  • Look into typography separation between the paragraph text and navigation text
  • There is some footer bottom spacing on the sub-page
  • Change color of radio circles in the image slider
  • Overall re-look into advancing the footer
  • There is some edge tension on the volunteer page form

Week 15A

Micro-Project

In class we were required to work in groups for our micro project. My partner was Kelly. S and together we completed a one page responsive webpage. The purpose of the project was to take the "Over the Rainbow Child Care Centers" website and re-design it with out using any rainbows. We had 2.5 hours to complete this goal.

Below is the tasks we completed together and separately.

My Tasks
  • Write the code
  • Color Scheme
  • Re-write content
  • Organize document layout
  • Design icons
  • Create Responsive Altercations

Kelly's Tasks
  • Color Scheme
  • Find photos, videos, etc.
  • Organize document layout
  • Design hero image
  • Find typography

Here was our final design and what we completed in the two and a half hours. We thought we were successful with our outcome but thought we managed our time wisely, but the time still got the best of us and wish we could of added some other elements to our page.

Week 14B

In Class:

As with all websites there will be problems, I used this class period as time well spend to fixed technically problems. One technical problem that I was having was getting my navigation to work. Each time I would add the media query or css code for the nav would make my homepage get all distorted and information would be missing. After a lot of fixing and toning I was able to fix the nav to my liking with help from my professor and classmates.

For homework I will work on making small changes that were addressed to me in Week 14A and have them completed for our final critique during our final.

Week 14A

Off Site Class:

Instead of meeting in the classroom for Week 14A, half the student's worked in classroom and the other half meet in the comfort of their homes. In order for the class to be still structured as a class we checked our email for instructions for what to do off site and what is needed for the next class on Wednesday. I took a lot of the notes into consideration but some of the elements I don't have control over in order to be changed. With each element from my images, text and boxes all needed to be resized and re-established in both the Desktop and Mobile.

Student notes

Student one

  • Broken Nav.
  • Problem with large white box at the bottom
  • Text in Nav. needs to be bigger
  • Signal and cue of all other buttons works really well
  • Color Scheme is good
  • Typography is playful and class (reflects dance theme)
  • Theme is young and fun
  • Issues with content being cut off
  • Overall visually very pretty
Student two

  • Nav. doesn't work
  • Desktop: The title is a bit close to the edge of the right side
  • Desktop: the arrow on slide on left needs to be fixed in image slider. Change color in circle buttons.
  • Desktop: Maybe try to underline the text links
  • Mobile: Watch the gap distances between boxes, try to keep the same
  • Mobile: Some of the titles and text needs to be center
  • Need favicon and title

Student Three

  • Overall I think your homepage is exactly what you were going for stylistically
  • Creates a soft, caring, young dancer feel
  • Boxes don't have hover states
  • There is some variation between sizes in desktop and mobile and boxes overlapping
  • There is some space variation in between the boxes on the mobile.
  • Edge Tension with Apply Now button
  • Design works really well

Week 13-Outside of Class

For Homework:

Over the weekend I made a lot of progress with my website. It gets very time consuming when I have to change every thing for both the desktop and mobile. I was successful by adding an image slider into my website.

Thing I still need to fix...

-Alignment in the mobile.
-Add navigation

Week 13B

In Class:

During class we met in small groups to go over any problems that we were having with our webpage. In my group we fixed the percentages of the column one third and column two thirds so it would look like my original design. My group also helped me fix the spacing in between block. This process took awhile and I thank my group for taking the time to look over my code and help figure out how to fix my problems. It wasn't until I met with my instructor on how I could get my responsive mobile view to not disappear. In order for the mobile view port to work we had to delete my navigation.

After I got all the spacing to work I went in and changed the colors.
