Week 10A

Visual Inventory Presentations & Feedback

At the beginning of our presentations we re-explained the non-profit organization we were researching and the 2-3 touch points that would be on our websites. I had three different approaches to my concept, but the one the class agreed with was the community approach. I would focus on how Dancing Dreams benefits the community. This would mean incorporating both the narrative side by giving quotes and personable stories and also the services that Dancing Dreams provides. As for the tone we talked about using the organic feeling by showing textures and natural textures you may find in the dance studio. For example the marly, or wood flooring. Another tone that the class suggested I should incorporate is movement. As dance has a lot of movement that should be shown on the website. I'm not sure how I will in corporate this or if I will but it's a very good suggestion. The last category we talked about was color. As ballet already has an audience that appeals to the delicate pinks and soft tones although there are men that also dance in Dancing Dreams organization so I have to appeal for both genders. As I can stay near the soft tones I just have to be careful of gender neutral colors.

Homework

Wireframes

Wireframes are used as a blueprint that organizes that information. During our wireframe ideation we are required to use Axure RP Pro 7.0. This was a new software for me. Axure allows the designer to layout the objects in an generic appearance with basic text, boxes, photo imagery, and lines. Axure allows the user to drag and drop elements into the page which can be change to work around adaptive views. For our project we used 1000 width for the desktop, 700 width for tablet and 400 width for mobile. This program allows you to generate the pages to be viewed on your browser of choice.

For homework we were required to create 2 sets of responsive homepage and subpage wireframes in Axure. The first being a traditional page and the second being a minimalistic or experimental version. The traditional page is pretty standard for the home and subpages. For the subpage I choose to focus on the volunteer page. As of right now I'm using the button aspect to be directed to the subpage instead of the navigation. If I decide it becomes difficult for users to be directed to the subpage through a button then I will change it to become part of the navigation bar.

For the Experimental pages I choose to do a bento box type of design. This will allow the information to be organized clearly. I thought this design would help users of the Dancing Dreams website to get a small bit of information instead of having full descriptions and written information directly on the homepage.
